Discovering More About Your Local Retail Owner

Say hello to Tecumseh Peete, the dynamic and friendly local retail owner of The UPS Store at 1250 Scenic Highway South, Suite 1701, Lawrenceville, Ga. If you were to Google search Tecumseh you would discover he has a doctorate in management, organizational leadership. He's also an adjunct college professor as well as an accomplished sprinter in the track and field world. Here's more of his multi-faceted story.

His Motto: Be The Change You Want to See

Tecumseh was born and raised in Memphis, Tenn., and grew up with many influential mentors and coaches. He started his work career with UPS, unloading trailers. He then enrolled in a UPS Program called BEEP (Black Executive Exchange Program). As a result of this training course, he took advantage of an opportunity to move to Salt Lake City and became a UPS delivery driver. During these twelve pivotal years as a UPS driver, Tecumseh reveals "the seed was planted early on that someday he would own his The UPS Store;" and he would take charge of his own destiny.

An Efficiency Expert In The Making

After his UPS tenure, he moved to Detroit to work for the car giant, General Motors® in the transportation of outbound finished vehicle logistics department. After spending four years at GM, he moved to Atlanta to work for Avon Products as their regional transportation manager. Tecumseh's operational logistics expertise became solidified as he earned a green and black belt certification in Six Sigma, a course geared to reduce errors and cut operational waste. After Avon, he transitioned into entrepreneur mode by achieving his goal of acquiring his own The UPS Store.

Tecumseh believes "there is no such thing as luck, only the intersection of preparation and opportunity." He spent months researching and preparing to buy his first The UPS Store, which he opened in 2019. He beams with pride when asked "How's it going?" as he shares his respect for his awesome team and his joy in helping his customers daily.

Family Time is Primetime

As a proud family man, he loves spending his downtime with his wife, Marcia, an equally accomplished Atlanta pediatrician and their two middle school-aged daughters, Lauren and Laila. His oldest son, Tecumseh Isaish is currently a drill instructor for the United States Marine Corps.

When not hanging out with his family, Tecumseh can be found working out at Orangetheory, reading a good Dan Brown book or listening to some of his favorite music artists, like John Coltrane, Johnny Hartman, Stan Getz, as well as anything from the Latin Jazz or Hip Hop era.

Ready, Set, Run

Without a doubt, one of Tecumseh's biggest passions is running track. He ran track in high school and college, and even today he competes in his age bracket as a member of the Atlanta Track Club. Despite being competitive by nature, he also reaps the benefits of running, as it "keeps him mentally sharp, in-shape and focused." Tecumseh is very humble, and of course the only way to learn about all of his running accomplishments is to Google him.

Next time you are in his store and are greeted by his infectiouly warm smile, ask him about his upcoming competitive races.
