Meet The UPS Store Retail Owner, Oscar Saucedo

Say howdy to the "Tom Hanks of The UPS Store" – Mr. Oscar Saucedo. Like Hanks, Oscar has to be one of the nicest and most helpful men you will meet.

A proud San Antonio native, Oscar married his high school sweetheart and attended the University of Texas. They eventually retired to San Antonio after spending 24 years navigating the corporate world for Southwestern Bell/AT&T in no less than ten different cities. After retiring, Oscar couldn't sit still. His path led right back to AT&T, servicing their account for an advertising agency where he discovered his love for printing, direct mail brochures and marketing.

Excited about focusing his printing and marketing skills on the needs of his own customers, Oscar acquired a local The UPS Store in 2014. He's known as the store owner who greets all of his customer guests by name. "We owe it to our customers to remember all of them," he says.

Where did Oscar get his gift of communication and sunny personality? "My mother," he says. "She had the gift of gab, a great personality and was a loquacious telephone operator." Oscar and his four siblings all inherited this positive personality and it's one of the many reasons his customers always return to The UPS Store. His life motto is "Every day, wake up feeling good." His attitude is infectious. "When I leave your store, I feel so much better!" a customer recently told him.

Oscar is passionate about his involvement with the Floresville Lions Club. Their charitable activities give back to local charities including food banks, emergency medical services, libraries, the Children's Museum, and school scholarships. Oscar is particularly proud of the "All-Star Student" program that honors high school students for their achievements in academics and leadership.

When not being a philanthropic pillar of his community, Oscar and his wife consider themselves "foodies," trying all of the new restaurants that have popped up in downtown San Antonio near the Riverwalk area. Oscar counters the delicious meals by walking, country-western dancing, and earning a 2^nd degree black belt in Taekwondo. He's been known to run an occasional marathon as well! When Oscar does sit still, he unwinds by listening to country-western music, Alicia Keys and his favorite, John Legend whose music he likens to modern-day poetry.
