What is the difference between The UPS Store private mailbox services and a P.O. Box at the post office?

With mailbox services at The UPS Store, you get a real street address, not a P.O. Box. If you’re a business owner, having a real street address for your business mailbox can provide you with a professional image for your business, and legitimacy with search engines. What does my mailing address look like?

Your mailing address will be the address of our The UPS Store ® location, with either PMB (private mailbox) or the pound symbol (#) designating your individual box. Example: Joe Smith PMB XXX or # XXX 11301 W Olympic Blvd Ste 121 Los Angeles, CA 90064

How do I sign up for mailbox services?

You need to complete a mailbox service agreement. The mailbox service agreement is an agreement between our The UPS Store location and the primary box holder for the duration you receive mail at that location. You will need to provide two valid forms of identification, one of which must include a photograph. I'm moving to the Los Angeles area. Can I sign up for mailbox services before arriving at my new location?

Yes. Contact us for details and requirements. If you are currently a mailbox customer at another The UPS Store location, make arrangements to have your mail re-mailed to your new location.

How much do mailbox services cost?

Pricing for mailbox services will be dependent on a number of factors and we’ll go through that when you sign-up for mailbox services.

Can I call to check if I have mail?

Yes. We offer Call-in MailCheck for mailbox holders. Save time. Save a trip. Call us to find out if you have mail.

Can I receive packages in my mailbox? From other carriers?

You can receive packages from any carrier with your mailbox agreement.

Can you re-mail my mail if I am away?

Yes. We offer re-mailing services for mailbox holders. The representatives at our location can re-mail your mail to you, anywhere you are. Additional charges and restrictions may apply.

Can you hold my mail if I am away?

Yes. We offer mail-holding services for mailbox holders. We can hold your mail for you until you return from a long business trip or a relaxing vacation. Additional charges may apply.

Can other people receive mail at my mailbox?

You can add the names of individuals authorized to receive mail at your mailbox. Each recipient will need to provide two valid forms of identification in order to complete the mandatory PS Form 1583.

Can other people pick up my mail at my mailbox?

Yes. You can permit people to pick up your mail by lending them the key to your mailbox. Possession of the mailbox key shall be considered valid evidence that the possessor of the key is duly authorized to remove any contents from the mailbox.

Why use our mailbox service when MyChoice is “free”?
The MyChoice program offered by UPS does provide for routing of packages to “Access Point” locations free of charge – but there are limitations.
The option is only available for certain packages that fall within certain size and weight limitations.
The re-route request must be initiated after the package is in transit (not in advance), AND the re-route request will result in at least a one-day delay of the package
Some shipments are not free to re-route… depending on the service level, some re-route requests may incur fees up to $14
The desired “Access Point” location may not be available to receive your package. Most locations have a maximum limit of packages that can be accepted. If the location is at maximum capacity when you attempt your re-route, your package may be re-directed to a different “Access Point” location at UPS’ discretion.
Packages shipped by FedEx and USPS are not eligible for the MyChoice program
When you use our mailbox service, you eliminate all those limitations!
We can accept any package delivered by UPS, FedEx, USPS, and many other private carriers. Receiving of large freight shipments may be possible, we do recommend you coordinate that with us on a case-by-case basis.
No need to re-route packages – ever! Just use your new mailbox address as your address and you are good to go! We’ll sign for your package when it arrives, and even have notification service to let you know it is here!
Because you will use your new mailbox address as you would your home or business address, there is no worry that we will be over capacity to receive the package, no need to let us know in advance. Your package will be here when you are ready.
