What is a Student U-Box?

A Student U-Box (University Box) is the individual mailbox address for each student living on campus. With a U-Box, a student can receive mail and packages from a variety of shipping carriers (e.g., USPS, UPS®, FedEx®, DHL and Amazon).

How do I know my Student U-Box number?

To receive your Student U-Box number assignment, please contact The UPS Store by email at store7410@theupsstore.com. If you have forgotten the U-Box number assigned to you, please contact The UPS Store by email at store7410@theupsstore.com.

Are there still mailboxes at my Dorm?

No, dorms do not have mailboxes and students are not able to receive mail or packages directly to the dorms. All mail and packages, regardless of shipping carrier (i.e., USPS, UPS®, FedEx® or DHL®), are delivered, processed and held for pick up at the East or West The UPS Store locations.

When can I pick up my package?

SDSU on-campus residents are asked to wait to receive a notification from The UPS Store before coming to pick up a package. After you receive an email from The UPS Store to your @sdsu email, you are able to pick up your package from The UPS Store. The UPS Store hours of operation are subject to change so please check the store homepage for hours: The UPS Store at SDSU .

I received a notification from the retailer that says that my package has been delivered. When will it be available for me to pick it up?

Packages are scanned as “delivered” all at once by the shipping carrier when they are put in the container for delivery to The UPS Store at SDSU. Sometimes that container is not delivered to The UPS Store until the next day. Typically, packages are scanned and ready for pickup on the same day that The UPS Store receives them.

Why is there a delay getting my package?

There may be delays in receiving packages during periods of high volume, including campus move-in and around holidays. The majority of delays are caused by packages being incorrectly addressed to just a first name, a nickname or missing U-Box number. Other delays are caused when a package is incorrectly addressed to a student’s residence hall and does not reference the student’s U-Box number.

The UPS Store^® at SDSU will be processing all incoming mail and packages for students living in on-campus residence halls.
On-campus student residents are issued a University Box (U-Box) to receive mail and packages from all carriers (e.g., Amazon, USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL).
The UPS Store system will email students an alert when The UPS Store checks in a package addressed to you.

What address should on-campus students use to receive mail and packages?
When addressing mail and packages to the residential communities on SDSU campus, please include the resident's name, U-Box # and address as shown below. Avoid using just the first name or nicknames. Student Package Receiving FAQs

When you receive mail or packages, they will be logged into The UPS Store mail system which then sends you an email alert. Once you receive the email notification from The UPS Store, you can then come by and log into a Check-In iPad station which will alert The UPS Store that you are ready to pick up your mail and/or packages. The UPS Store associate will retrieve your items and then you’ll simply sign for them to complete the process.

Student Shipping FAQs

We recommend using a guaranteed delivery service option like UPS Next Day Air^® for a Saturday delivery to the SDSU campus. FedEx^® and USPS also offer an overnight delivery service option. You will want to confirm whether the delivery option includes Saturday delivery. The UPS Store will check in time-sensitive packages as soon as possible. Packages will be ready to pick up after you receive an email notification from The UPS Store.
